How is Trifocal Lens Surgery Performed?

What is the Difference Between Trifocal and Multifocal Lenses?

Cataract patients used to be treated with monofocal lenses. These lenses provided good vision only at distance or only near. Later, monofocal lenses were developed, so patients began to see both far and near clearly. However, monofocal IOLs were also insufficient in situations that required clear mid-range vision, such as working with a PC, doing workouts and driving a car.

Trifocal IOLs have three focal points. Thanks to this lens, patients achieve a combination of extended near, intermediate and far vision. Thus, patients have a much clearer vision and wide viewing angle without the need for anything else such as glasses or contact lenses.

Success Rate in Trifocal Lens Surgery

Patients can become fully accustomed to trifocal lenses in just a few days after surgery. This means gaining clear vision without the need for glasses. After one eye has healed sufficiently in a period of 7 to 10 days, it is recommended that the other eye be operated in the same way.
