What is the Eyebrow Transplantation?
Eyebrow transplant is a complex procedure that needs to be performed by experienced and specialists as it requires a lot of skill and and attention to the details. It is a procedure similar to the hair transplant that we perform for the scalp area. The procedure consist of the harvesting of the hair follicules from the donor area and their transplantation to the receiving eyebrow area, one by one. Donor area is generally the rear part of the sculp or the leg area as the hair follicules in the eyebrow area not just won’t give the expected result but also has a risk to damage the existing brow hair.
Patients should know that hair follicules that are collected from the sculp area will not change their growing behaviour after the transplant, and will grow with the same rate and lenght as if they were in the sculp area. Therefore patients will need to trim their eyebrows. Same should be expected from the follicules that are collected from the leg area but with a slower rate and lenght (as the leg hair has a different growth rate from the sculp hair and also won’t grow too long).
The Healing Process
The operation is an out patient basis operation, meaning that patients won’t be required a hospital stay. Patients might not be adviced to take a show for some time period varying between 1-7 days depending on surgeons assessment.
New eyebrow follicules will start growing around the third month and patients may be able to see the final results in 9-12 months.

Please note that complications occur more frequently with patients who are obese, smoke, and have a history or lung or other chronic underlying medical conditions.
Smokers are recognized to have a significantly higher risk of post operative wound healing problems with a subsequently higher potential of infection as well as operative and post operative bleeding. Patients should discontinue smoking for two weeks before and two weeks after surgery. Although it helps to stop smoking before and after surgery, this does not completely eliminate the increased risks resulting from long term smoking. Smoking also has a long term adverse effect on the skin and ageing process.
